Bard shuffled as he took in his surroundings. He was in a prison cell.

Bofur ran, still looking for Kingsfoil, unaware that a pack of Orcs was watching his every move. Trailing with their eyes, they saw him take a plant from a pig and run back to where Bard's house was. With agility, they followed him.

--

Sigrid screamed as an Orc plummeted down and hissed at her. She turned back to the house as it tried to assault him, Bain and Tilda rising up because of the clamor. Bofur was attacked as well—fortunately he had dodged the swipe of its blade. An Orc barged in the house and Oin hurriedly flung a vase at it. Another went in from the roof and hit Sigrid, the girl crashing down at a wooden bench.

Fili hurled himself and attacked the Orc. While the girls hid in safety, the Orcs were swarming the house.

Bofur was trying to get out from the grip of the Orc, and fell. Before the Orc could slice him up, however, an arrow was struck through his heart and he fell dead in a second.

In the house, Tauriel came and began to attack the group of Orcs, skillfully flinging her daggers and the Orcs falling dead down the floor. Legolas came in as well and used his bow to attack another Orc. The Dwarves took the chance and tried to get the children to safety.

An Orc grabbed Kili's leg, and before it could attack him, Tauriel's dagger was hurled through the air and struck through the Orc's head. Kili fell down, the pain in his leg numbing him by the second. However, he tried, with the last of his remaining strength, to help Tauriel and successfully did so. Unfortunately, the pain shoot up and he fell to the floor again and was convulsing violently.

No Orc was left alive and the rest ran off. Bofur grabbed hold of the Kingsfoil once the entire clamor was over and headed to the house.

"You killed them all," Bain said. Legolas quickly walked away, and said sternly, "There are others. Tauriel, come."

She brought her attention to Kili, lying down, his face in pain. "We're losing him," Oin cried, and looked up at Tauriel. Legolas called her name, but the she-Elf stayed put, debating whether to go with Legolas or help the Dwarf.

Responsibily nagged at her and she was already walking away from Kili when the Dwarf groaned loudly in pain. Tauriel was already turned to leave when Bofur was up the steps, holding the plant. He jumped in surprise, but the Elf took the plant. "Athelas," she said, and inspected it like a fragile piece of glass.

"What are you doing?" Bofur asked her sheepishly, afraid that she might do something wrong.

"I'm going to save him." Tauriel told him, and headed back inside the house.

--

Orcrist was clutched in Thorin's hand, the fire of the Dragon leaking out from within. Looking for Bilbo, he took the moment to see all the gold laid out in front of him. Greed was slowly taking over him, until Bilbo ran up the steps and caught his attention.

"You're alive," he breathed out. He was happy to see him, but greed said otherwise.

"Not for much longer," the hobbit replied hastily, and looked at Thorin. "The Dragon's coming."

"The Arkenstone." The Dwarf asked him sternly, greed shining in his eyes as he blocked Bilbo away from the exit. The hobbit now slowly believed that Thorin was being corrupted, because it was happening now. "Did you find it?"

They stood there for a moment longer, until Bilbo managed to find his voice. "We need to get out—"

He was quickly blocked by Throin's sword. The Dwarf pointed it at Bilbo's chest.

"Thorin, Thorin—!"

He slowly backed away, Orcrist ready to strike any moment. Until Smaug appeared, that is.

Both slowly looked up and saw the dragon coming close. Then, out of nowhere, the Dwarves rushed in, weapons at hand.

"You will burn!" Smaug roared, lunging straight for them. Before he could burn them, the Company jumped back and hid behind the stone steps, them sliding clumsily over the gold. The rest of them went in a room as Thorin caught fire behind him. "Come on!" the Dwarves shouted in panic.

And fire surged.
