Chapter 41

~ 3 weeks before summer ends
- Madison
" Tell an adult" Joey says.
" I can try" I get out my keys.
"You will" he says.

I unlock my door and wait for him to leave my doorsteps.

"Goodnight" He says lightly before putting his hands in his pocket and walking away.
"Goodnight" I whisper to myself.

I close the door and take a deep breath. From having a major breakdown in his Mom's car and then sleeping is somewhat great.

"Mom!" I shout.

No one answers so I'm guessing she's not here. I walk upstairs and sit on my bed. As I look at the open envelope that Mia sent to me I remember about the money.

I go to her room and lift up the mattress. My eyes widen as I see lots of blocks of money under the mattress.
"No way" I gasp in disbelieve.
I look away and look back at it. I pinch myself lots of times until I realize it's not a dream.
" holy fucking shit!!" I start to jump up and down like a happy toddler getting candy.

"I'm rich!!!" I laugh and shout still jumping up and down.

"Madison?" I hear a voice and someone walking down the hallway.

I hurry and put the mattress back down.

"Yes?" I go out the door to see joey walking down the hallway.

"What? What's wrong" I ask.

"Nothing, I'm just locked out. I need somewhere to sleep" He smiles.

"Oh. No problem, you could sleep here"  I smile back.

"So on the couch? Or??" He says awkwardly.

" no it's fine. You could sleep in my bed , if you want" I awkwardly look up and play with my fingers.

"Okay, I will"

I walk to my room and he follows.
We sit on the bed.

"You weren't really locked out!!" I laugh.

"Oh yes I was!" He laughs with me.

"You just wanted to sleepover!!"

I get up and run out of the room while he chases me.

" Haha you can't get me!!" I stick out my tongue.

He laughs. And plops down on the couch.

" you're right, I can't get you" He takes a dramatic deep breath.

" loser " I sit next to him on the couch.

" yes. I am" we laugh.

We hear the door open and high heel footsteps walk towards us.

"Ha joey!" My Mom shouts.

" I just got back from having dinner with your mother.She told me so much about you, how you and your girlfriend is doing so great" she smiles.

Girlfriend?

Joey looks at me and gives me the wide eye.

" is that true?" My mom says.

" uhh ... yes we are doing great.. I guess" he stutters.

" thats great. We'll Madison I'm gonna go shower and get ready for bed I expect you to do the same" she walks away.

"  if it isn't one thing, it's another" I sit back.

" sorry" he says.

" when were You gonna tell me?!" I get up off of the couch.

" I was gonna tell you soon! I swear" he says.
" whatever , joey."
" don't be mad" he says.
" we aren't doing great, we were just about to break up because I -"
" your mom is home, you aren't locked out anymore" I cut him off.

" so you're kicking me out?!" He shouts.

" I guess" I look at him and he rolls his eyes, walking out.

I'm so stupid to think he liked me or I'm catching feelings for him. I'm not mad about him having a girl, I'm just upset because he didn't tell me. But I'm leaving to New York in 3 weeks he won't have to see me again.

I'm gonna cringe at this story when I get older, we all are. Don't do drugs kids !
