“Hurro?” I balanced my phone on my shoulder, sitting on my bed, legs crossed, one arm dipped into a packet of potato chips, the other stuffing potato chips into my mouth. I know, sloppy.

“Um, Ally?” A familiar voice sounded in my ears.

I swallowed the mashed up chip in my mouth and cleared my throat before continuing. “Oh, hi Matthew. Wassup?”

He chuckled. “The ceiling.”

Ah, yes. The ceiling joke. How very original. “Haha. Very funny.” I rolled my eyes dramatically.

“Anyway,” He dragged the note really long. “Are—“

“Hold that thought Matthew!” I interrupted him before he could finish his sentence when I realized there was a beeping in my phone. Another call. “I’ve got a call.”

He drew out a long dreary sigh before saying “Okay.”

I stuck out my tongue a little while trying to press the button with my only clean pinky. “Helloooo?” I sing-songed.

“Hiya sweet cakes.” Another familiar voice greeted me.

I narrowed my eyes. “Cole, why are you calling me? I can see you from here you know.” I put a hand on my hip as I glowered at Cole, who was sitting directly across my bedroom on the couch. “And what’s with the weird flowery language?”

He shrugged, but not looking at me still. “I thought you might’ve liked it.”

I groaned internally. “Ugh, whatever. Make it quick.”

“Fine fine.” He swatted a hand at me. “So I was wondering—“

Beep Beep Beep.

“Oh sorry, hold on a second there Cole. Incoming call.” I licked my finger clean before pressing the button once again.

“Um hello?” I turned my back to Cole, feeling his glare burning through it.

“Hey, Ally!” The other person on the line chirped cheerfully.

I felt a smile tug at my lips. “Hey Jeremy, why are you so hyped up today?”

“I—“ He started but I cut him off.

“Oh my god! I forgot about Matt! Hold on!” I gasped and quickly changed the line back to Matthew.

“Matthew?” I whisper-yelled, preparing myself for a long scolding.

“Man I thought you were dead.” Matthew joked and I let out a relieved breath that I had held in.

“Sorry.” I grimaced, my forehead crumpling. “Why do you guys all have to call me at the same time anyway? It’s like…weird.”

“Oh…you guys as in…Boss and I?” He questioned, and I pictured him raising a quizzical eyebrow.

“And Cole!” I corrected him, finding Cole looking up from the corner of my eye.

“Oh right…and Cole.” He said, his voice seeming rather cold. “So, I want to ask you…how about a date on Friday?” He quickly averted away from the awkward topic, his voice sounding lively again.

I licked my lips in delight. “Sounds great.”

“Good! See you, love ya!” He made this disgusting kissy sound and I crinkled up my nose in disgust.

“Love chu too!” I laughed and hung up.

Letting a sigh escape my lips, I turned to face Cole again, only to find a flirtatious look on his face.
